Finance Meeting of the Ban Ki-moon Centre Held in Paris

Last Saturday, some Advisory Board members of the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens met for finance and fundraising considerations in Paris, France. Jean Todt, the President of the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and the United Nations Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety, hosted the meeting at FIA Headquarters.

During the meeting, the previous work and the on-going projects of the Centre were discussed. The participants also shared their ideas on possibilities and strategies for financial cooperation for the Centre with its partners, including the governments of Korea, Kuwait and Austria, and international organizations, foundations, philanthropy and private sector.

The second regular annual Advisory Board meeting – with the complete Advisory Board present – will take place on August 27th during the European Forum Alpbach 2018, Austria. The Advisory Board members will participate in the Forum´s panels, workshops, and/or seminar sessions with members of government, high-level dignitaries, experts, businessmen and youth participants from all over the world.

ADVISORY BOARD MEETING OF THE BAN KI-MOON CENTRE

9 FEBRUARY 2018, Pyeongchang, Republic of Korea

The Ban Ki-moon Center for Global Citizens is holding its next Advisory Board meeting of the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens at the margins of the Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, Republic of Korea on 9 February 2018.

The Board meeting will be co-chaired by Ban Ki-moon, the former United Nations Secretary General and Heinz Fischer, the former President of the Republic of Austria. Please see the current list of Board members of the Ban Ki-moon Centre here.

Mr Christoph de Kepper, Director General of the International Olympic Committee and several other high-level dignitaries will join the Board. The Board aims to decide on the high-level strategic blueprint for the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens.

Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens saddened by the death of Advisory Board Member H.E. Hans Kyrle

Vienna 16 January 2018 – The Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens regrets to report the death of H.E. Dr. Hans Kyrle, a member of the Advisory Board of the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens. The two co-chairmen of the Centre, Mr. Ban Ki-moon and Dr. Heinz Fischer, the fellow Board members and the Centre´s staff are deeply saddened by the sudden death of Hans Kyrle, who was a strong supporter of the Centre for Global Citizens since its inception.

Johannes Kyrle had a long and distinguished career. He had served as Secretary-General of Austria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs for many years and had been a member of the National Security Council, advising the Austrian Federal Government on principal matters of foreign, security and defense policy. From 1997 to 2002 he was the Chief of Protocol at the Austrian Foreign Ministry and the Austrian Ambassador to the Principality of Liechtenstein with residence in Vienna from 1991 to 2002.

He was an appreciated member of the Advisory Board of the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens. He will be missed and thoughts are with his family and friends in these challenging times.
