The Global Engagement & Empowerment Forum on Sustainable Development (GEEF), co-hosted by the Institute for Global Engagement & Empowerment (IGEE) and the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens, is an annual international event where various stakeholders, including global leaders, experts, and youth, convene to collaborate towards accomplishing the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Due to COVID-19, GEEF 2020 has been postponed indefinitely. However, the Ban Ki-moon Centre is continuing its preparatory work for the forum. Over the course of 2019, the BKMC held four preparatory meetings for the 2020 forum. You can read more about our preparations here.
GEEF 2019: A Call to Action: Empower People, Share Prosperity
The Ban Ki-moon Centre hosted a plenary session entitled, “Women’s Empowerment for Inclusive and Sustainable Development,” and its Board members featured as keynote speakers at the plenary and parallel sessions.
The Forum included 16 sessions and had 106 speakers, 66 organizations, and 13 partners and sponsors. More than 2,000 registered participants from 80 countries were in attendance.
GEEF 2018 : Putting People and Planet at the Center
The forum featured a stellar line-up of speakers including current UNSG António Guterres; then-President of the UNGA Miroslav Lajčák; Founder and Executive Chairman of Alibaba, Jack Ma; as well as the Ban Ki-moon Centre’s co-chairs and Board members.
