BKMC Co-chair Ban Ki-moon has a bilateral meeting with Swedish Prime Minister on New Year’s Eve 2019

On New Year’s Eve of the year 2019, Co-chair Ban Ki-moon had an informal bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Sweden Stefan Löfven as they were both visiting Vienna, Austria. While Co-chair Ban was serving as Secretary-General of the United Nations, he has had several meetings with Prime Minister Löfven. Their discussion agenda included migration issues, the implementation of the Global Goals, gender equality, women’s participation in peace processes and humanitarian issues and more.

As Sweden ranks the 2nd on “The 2019 SDG Index” co-developed by the UN SDSN and Bertelsmann Stiftung, the Ban Ki-moon Centre has closely collaborated with the Embassy of Sweden in Vienna on SDG-relevant events. One of the big events of the Swedish Embassy where the Ban Ki-moon Centre featured was “The 2030 Agenda – From Global Goals to Local Implementation.” BKMC CEO Monika Froehler moderated the event and led the discussions on the SDGs and the implementation of the Goals in Austria as well as around the world. The event also featured Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden.
