The Ban Ki-moon Centre is a Quasi-International Organization under Austrian law. It is a charitable non-profit institution with affiliated offices and entities around the globe. It is co-chaired by the 8th Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon and by the 11th President of the Republic of Austria Heinz Fischer and works for women and youth empowerment in the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Climate Agreement.
The BKMC was founded as Association in 2017 and became a Quasi International Organization in 2018. It was officially inaugurated on 3rd January 2018 with a ceremony at the Austrian Chancellery.
The BKMC Vienna works closely with the Ban Ki-moon Foundation for a Better Future in Seoul, with the IGEE Secretariat at Yonsei University in Seoul, with the Handong University Campus in Seoul, with the US Foundation of the Ban Ki-moon Centre in New York and with the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Sustainable Development at Al-Farabi University in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
The BKMC is funded by voluntary contributions by governments and private sector donors, individuals and Foundations. The Centre provides detailed narrative and financial reports on its activities to its donors, complying with their reporting requirements and reports to the Ministry of Finance in Austria regarding the Status as a Quasi International Organizations. The BKMC finances are audited annually.
Donations to the BKMC are welcome. Grants and donations to the BKMC are received in the understanding that the Centre´s reputation, integrity, impartiality, and confidentiality of its work will not be put at risk. The BKMC does not give away grants and does not award scholarships etc., grants or funding to outside BKMC´s own projects.
A global citizen is someone who self-identifies first and foremost not as a member of a state, a tribe or a nation, but as a member of the human race, and someone who is prepared to act on that belief, to tackle our world’s greatest challenges depicted by the Sustainable Development Goals.

The BKMC works with a small team of dedicated individuals. If you want to join the BKMC Team, kindly keep updated via the employment section on our website. We cannot respond to unsolicited applications.
The BKMC has dedicated internship program with Yonsei University in Korea. Currently the BKMC only accepts interns who are enrolled in a BA or MA course at Yonsei University. The BKMC internships take 6 months and there are no summer internships.

The proposal should state the scope of the anticipated collaboration, a description of your organization and whether you already have a budget or a specific idea for joint fundraising opportunities. BKMC Global Citizen Mentorships are hosted in collaboration with the Muslim Youth Austria (MJÖ) and are advertised on BKMC´s social media and website, the MJÖ network and specially to targeted audiences. The BKMC logo and brand is protected according to the standards of the European Intellectual Property Organization (EUIPO). The logo can only be used with the expressed agreement of the BKMC on a case by case basis.
