Mercy Waweru is the founder of Voices 4 the Streets, a non-profit organization in Nairobi, that seeks to re-settle girls and women living on the street. She is a community development professional who believes in giving them a second chance at a normal life. For the last five years, she has dedicated her time and career to understand the reasons as to why these women are homeless, the dangers that come with it, and possible solutions. Through donors, she has successfully managed to have a tailoring workshop running in the Deep Sea Slums in Nairobi. In addition to this, she has partnered with several organizations that provide sanitary products to the women on a monthly basis. She is currently pursuing an MA in Economics Policy at the University of Nairobi, and is focused on the relationship between gender inequality and poverty. Mercy hopes to be among change-makers focusing on poverty and homelessness.
