Project Name: “Mock Trials of Cases of Violence Against Women in Brazil”
With her SDG Micro-Project Isabela Barbosa tackled the challenge of the alarming numbers of cases of violence against women in Brazil, which became even more serious in the course of the COVID-19 pandemic. Isabela’s project fostered the knowledge and skills of 23 Brazilian adolescents between the ages of 16 and 20 on the debate of violence against women. Throughout the project she organized meetings to inform the participants about the Brazilian Judicial System and offered mentoring with professionals in the field to simulate a jury in a case of violence against women. Isabela currently plans to replicate and scale the project in other locations of Brazil. The project mainly targeted SDG 5 Gender Equality and SDG 16, Peace Justice and Strong Institutions.
